A potential humanitarian disaster is looming in western Burma's Arakan State after thousands of internally displaced Rohingya Muslims on Wednesday failed to agree to a government plan to evacuate them ahead of an approaching tropical storm. Tropical Cyclone Mahasen, a storm which could affect 4.1 million people in the region, the UN has warned, stormed into Bangladesh Thursday, bearing down on the ports of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, as tens of thousands of people huddled in shelters. It is expected to cross the Bay of Bengal and blast Myanmar as well.
