Over the past year, Sri Lanka has undergone a swift shift towards an authoritarian system of governance and power, with the Rajapaksa regime ramrodding through a constitutional amendment that almost certainly will be used to browbeat the country’s ethnic and religious minorities and the political opposition into submission.
