Just one of the many stories that had a happy ending, although there were many who did not have such luck. Many South Vietnamese who were supporters of the US found out by the Communist North Vietnamese were sent away and ended up in North Vietnam and were held in Re-education camps for 10 to 15 years or more. Many were sent to dig up mines laid in the DMZ, and many lost their lives, I saw many of the graves in 1991 as one of the first backpackers in the country. Many could not work for anyone in proper well paid jobs and could only survive by buying a cyclo taxi bicycle and this became their job and home.....!!!. Many did not escape and many died trying. The lucky ones got to Thailand or Malaysia and then accepted to Australia and US and other countries. A said tale indeed.
