I think she is an examplery of actions speak louder than word. She does not question what the country does for her, instead what she does for the country.

Despite what the racist people in Malaysia say about non Bumi people, she still stands proud unwavering, claiming proudly she’s a Malaysian and making the country proud. By doing this, she shuts the mouth of those racist; moreso than those people who yell unfairness and demand others to sing their song. There is nothing wrong for you to voice unfairness and unequal treatment, but it is wrong for you to expect her to follow your way to change for the better.

Because, personally I think, her way is more effective in changing the mindset ot the bigots in the country than yours is.

If you live in Malaysia, you would've noticed the number of 99 Speed Marts & Mr. DIY shops that are found all over the country. These companies are owned by people of Michelle Yeoh's ethnicity who never asked or require any help from the govt. And yet are very successful in their own right. In a similar way, one can say Michelle Yeoh is very much a Ms. DIY

The author is asking too much from her! In her early years she was in UK doing ballet dancing. After that she went to Australia where she won a pagent in Australia and that is when she met Jackie Chan in Australia. From Jackie Chan she was groomed in Hong Kong. I dare say Malaysia have not her acting carrer any way and it is evident with Malaysia movies that are lack luster and not well received. Till today, Malaysia Filem industry is still struggling due to Race and Religion issue. Look at Mentega Terbang filem, even death trap issued to the Filem maker and the actors. Malaysia have a long way to go and most probably down hill with the things are happening now.

However we should thank Michelle Yeoh contribution to Income Tax as she is among the T20 category. She had not given up her citizenship and that is a great blessing to Malaysia. We should not ask too much of Michelle but we as Malaysian should thank her for her contribution to the country. Her avheivement have made Malaysia Prpuf that money cannot buy. Thanks Michelle Yeoh!.

Any good advice and sincere effort to improve any aspect of a person’s life or wellbeing, that of a company we work in, the larger community and the country we love, is encouraged.

Don’t we as individuals, appreciate good advice and help from our friends and neighbours in times of need?

Wow the audacity of cowardness behind open letter to assume you know all about malaysia as ethnocentric and religion bigotricentric country. As a fellow malaysian we are proud of TS Michelle Yeoh as an outstanding person of her own rights. Don't be a champion for our political arena and socio economic mapping by playing magician here because you are not even a player. Better learn the history again about what happened to majority of 'native' people in developed countries or any well known civilisation. They just vanished. Do respect our narrative for not wanting the unknown and prospects of what we will see in the future. We don't need woke culture for wrong reasons and or you as ob rep here. Don't bark too loud , because sometimes people are getting annoyed by just listening. Most of the time we just need to know where do we belong or to be exact where/what is your place.

Why this writer demand for Michelle Yeoh to do this. Yes, she Growth in Malaysia, but can’t deny that all this success is mostly effort from her family growth her, her own effort working hard maybe 20 hours a day at foreign country to achieve this. With her goodwill today, yes any word come from her may have influent to public. But it is also depend on her own decision whether to do anything to influent or speak out for any correction on the unfair threat at Malaysia. It is really depend on her personal decision. No any author have right to asked for this just because she won an Osca award.

Completely agree. Now is the time to speak up. It's not exactly dangerous compared to say, the Iranian directors and actors who are critical of their government's nightmarish religious policies, or Russian ex-pats condemning Putin's war...
