Microsoft's Gates Makes a Risky Bet

Annual memo about the global journey to zero emissions appears frighteningly optimistic

On a regular basis, Bill Gates, the philanthropist and founder of the Microsoft tech empire, issues what he calls “Gates Notes” dealing with subjects close to his billionaire heart. His most recent issue, published on October 18, concerns climate change, in which he says “avoiding a climate disaster would be the hardest challenge people had ever faced.”
