At least by 17th-19th century standards -- before the advent of aerial bombardments and machine guns and field mines and poison gasses -- the ratio of killings of indigenous Americans by settler-colonial Protestants (Congregationalist, Presbyterian, and more) to the killings of the settlers by indigenous Americans was as wildly unbalanced as the ratio cited re: Israelis and Palestinians here. As it happens, I've just published an article that describes this historical context, with a revealing irony: English and American Protestants who settled and seized American lands incessantly valorized biblical Israelites, calling themselves "the new Israel" and their American settlements "Zion," putting Hebrew phrases and orthography on the college seals of Yale, Dartmouth, and Columbia, thus scripting and justifying their displacement and decimation of native Americans. Some of their legatees are displacing their own "tribe's" guilt onto today's Israelis. Acknowledging this does NOT justify Israelis' own vengeful savagery. It deepens our sense of what actually drives such barbarities, in so many places and times:

After a couple of articles in which a smidgen of self restraint was on display, that old left wing hatred of the Jews rears its ugly head once again in this article.

There has been no effort to tell the truth in this article - all the figures quoted bar one have come exclusively from Hamas. The very kindest way to describe this lack of research is "sloppy journalism", but as the author has several decades worth of experience, he should not get off so lightly. This is simply a copy and paste of Hamas propaganda because it suits the author's purposes.

The "analysis" of the weaponry at Israel's disposal and their efficiency in using it conveniently overlooks the performance of other forces with basically the same kit and doing the same job. How many women and children were slaughtered by sophisticated American weapons while attending weddings and funerals in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya? I suppose it's understandable Joe Biden has forgotten about all this, but does the author of this article have the same cognitive deficiencies?

All this fuss because three mercenaries were killed while escorting food that was going to be given to the Hamas terrorists is just faux outrage and yet another excuse to legitimise hatred of the Jews. That's all it really is - an indulgence of the only form of racism permitted these days.

Yeah here come the Trumptard, cognitively challenged enablers and fellow travellers of the Zionist vermin. "All this fuss"? Really? You appear to have no idea what effect this has had on public opinion in the UK, Canada and Australia, amongst a thousand other places, all of it negative towards Israel and it's supine lackey, the USA. Israel blithely and deliberately targets civilians, aid workers, medical staff and children - and all the dumb 'Merkin right trash can say is: "faux outrage" LMAO. Be funny if it weren't so evil. No wonder the world is turning away from the phoney American Hegemon - everyone outside the safe, smug US bubble can see the hypocrisy and cynical manipulation for themselves.

You're correct in comparing Israeli and American targeting though: the USA is renowned amongst it's "allies" as completely incompetent when it comes to air support, as they don't really care where the bombs fall: civvies, allies, whatever, it's all about the "boom" and not actual results.

I do wonder what the average American would do if say, the Native Americans decided that they were the "chosen people" and, having lived for aeons before the present population, declared half of the US as their sanctified birth right, with everyone else an interloper and thus second class citizens (at best)? I suppose you would just shrug and say, yeah well God said it was true so it's OK, we'll leave and if they shoot us in the back as we're doing so, well it's only fair, they are the blessed ones after all. 🤣

What has Donald Trump got to do with any of this and why do you think I have voted for him?

You talk of evil, and yet you fail to mention the Muslim terrorists who started this round of conflict by raping and murdering innocent civilians, even slaughtering babies. You also fail to mention the fact that those Palestinian children clapped and cheered as hostages - dead and alive - were paraded before them. Somehow, you also overlooked the fact that many of those so-called aid workers were really just terrorists in disguise. And yet you work yourself up into a faux outrage over the response of the Israelis to the terrorist atrocities of October 7.

It's impossible to fight an enemy that hides behind women and children, and builds its fortresses underneath hospitals ,without inflicting casualties on non-combatants. This applies to every military force in a such a situation. No other armed forces would have tackled the Muslim terrorists hiding in Gaza and caused less damage and fewer casualties. I've experienced what the Russians do in war. There is no comparison with the restraint shown by the Israelis.

Curiously, neither you nor the author of this article have made any effort to address this issue. I get the fact that you hate the USA and "western values". Beware of what comes after them.

On the day the world remembers the genocide in Rwanda, we are, in essence, ignoring one in Ukraine and supporting one in Gaza. Shame on our so-called leaders. Shame.

On the day after Iran launched over 300 missiles at Israel, it should be worth remembering that Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah, among others, have all publicly stated their intention to wipe Israel - and the Jews - from the face of this earth. That is real genocide the Muslims are attempting. Israel is trying to prevent this genocide. You seem hostile to the Israelis efforts to prevent genocide (again). It is just a short step for you to actively support the efforts of Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah to commit genocide. Shame on you Rickter. Shame.
