Consumer Giants’ False Promise of Plastics Cleanup

Public commitments to clean up the mess they make are hollow

The market giants that put much of the world’s plastic into the environment are funding “solutions” that do little to solve what is rapidly becoming one of the world’s most intractable problems – cleaning up plastic waste – according to a 23-page, heavily footnoted report by Break Free from Plastic, a global NGO working to mitigate plastic pollution.
