{mosimage}The following is an extract from A Shattered Youth, the searing story of Savathy Kim, who as a 21-year-old student was driven from Phnom Penh by the Khmer Rouge to spend the next four years in blind terror and deprivation, believing she would be murdered at any time, and indeed having most of her family murdered. Kim ultimately persevered and returned to a normal life, even becoming a Cambodian Supreme Court justice. Her experience in the korngchalat – concentration camp – marked her for her life. Shattered Youth is the emotionally gripping story of her return and her attempt to understand what had happened to her and her country. The book is available from Maverick House through Amazon for as well as in bookstores everywhere.
